Does anyone still use this lure much? I found an old one in my trout box and realized I hadn't used these in a long time. As I recall they can sometimes be pretty good when you need a slow retrieve or for slow trolling behind flashers. I've had more trout hit them on the fall in deeper water before the retrieve than any other lure.

Back when I bought this one the only color I remember them in was red and gold or red and silver. Looks like there's a lot of other colors now.

I know many that were successful with them way back when.
I was Not one of them.

These?

I have one just like this...somewhere. I seldom use it for fear of losing my one and only, but I see they are still available, so I may dig mine out and use it tomorrow. Probably my last open water trip for the year.

I've got a half dozen or so Super Dupers that are at least 40 years old. They used to be very popular and my dad used them behind flashers trolling for trout in lakes. I'd occasionally toss one in streams but ...

I haven't fished a Super Duper in decades as there's far better go to choices.

I haven't used them in a long time either, but they're still selling them. Based on the "reviews" at Cabela's they still work. I'll give one a try next week.

Used them to catch pickerel in the 70's. Have not fished a SuperDuper in a very long time. Old lures still work.

Oddly enough there happens to be a fly fishing size SuperDuper in my desk drawer. Since there's no trout anywhere near here I've been meaning to try it ice fishing. Never had much luck with it on trout though but I was a kid then with an under-abundance of patience.

There are quite a few people that use the heck out of them for stocked trout in Maryland. They seem to work well as they swear by them. I never had much luck with them myself. Always thought they looked like a pair of fingernail clippers.

I use the super duper this summer! Kind of bad pics sorry. I threw almost every lure I had until these fish started hitting a silver Super Duper

I use a red/silver SuperDuper when trolling for trout. It seems to work pretty good.

One of the best grayling lures I've found. They are heavy for their size, and tumble along rocky stream beds very well, sort of rolling along. They don't get hung up as often as spoons, and having the treble is nice for hard fighting fish in a current.

I've also used "Lil Jake" lures when I couldn't find Super Dupers. Same idea. They seem even heavier for size, which I like.

I once read that they are supposed to twist your line in one direction, and when it gets too twisted, it will start turning the other way to untwist the line. This is why they don't have built in swivels. Can't say I've seen that happen, they seem to twist my line like crazy, but that comes with river fishing.

Edit - Jake's are Made in USA!

Never discount an old lure.. My fishing partner had a lure hanging in his boat called a pearl wobbler. Made from real abalone shell. I asked about it and he said years ago it was the hot lure for salmon but wouldn't use it as they are not made any more. I found and bought 2 off e bay and tryed them on one of those really dead days when you just can't get a hit. We had a limit in half hr.
