The short actions seem to be a long way out but you may be able to find an 06 at scheels or academy and not have to wait. My local academy has one right now. 24'' barrel on the 24b.

The stainless barrels on phosphate actions are being shipped now as well as the all phosphate versions. The all SS models, actions and barrels are quite a ways out. There are some metallurgy issues to solve first. Melvin doesn't make SS actions, so this will be a "first".

Brad, writing above here a few posts is correct, ss will buy you time out in the field. How much depends on the composition of the stainless in your rifle. As someone said also above, hunting on the SE coast of AK - all bets are off.

He says it isn't as strong as Cro-Mo. Maybe Ion Bond is the answer. You can Ion Bond SS as well, but I think it might be a slightly different process. The barrel would need to be unscrewed in any event.

In 28 years of hunting I've never had any of my blued firearms rust. I hate rust. I'm pretty meticulous when it comes to cleaning my firearms. This new Forbes will only be my third stainless rifle, the rest are all blues. Having said that, I'm considering cerakote, I don't have any firearms cerakoted yet.

When I ordered my phosphate 24B, I was told there was a 6 - 8 month wait, but it was closer to 3 months.

My educated guess is in addition to the SS actions being a long way out due to engineering challenges, the other limiting factor slowing up deliveries is the stock. Forbes was/is advertising barreled actions available for immediate delivery.

Has anyone received a 20B yet, in any flavor?

Gunbroker has a selling from Minnesota called Northern Firearms.
He has had a consistent supply of 24B's. I see he is now selling them BELOW the usual cost of $1400. He has them at $1350 - which
includes shipping. That is about an $85 saving.
Out of state buyers will escape sales tax too.
Just fyi.

My extra 30-06 24B will go on the block soon.

FYI, I did a quick road test on my Forbes 24B. All in all a nice rifle!
