Hopefully, someone can answer a slightly technical question. The entire bolt on my Browning Safari Grade rifle is left "in the white." It seems as if the bare metal would quickly rust, but it does not. Does anyone know why?

It can rust, and more so where there is higher humidity. Here in MT, lower humidity and fewer problems. I've got some FN Mausers like your Browning, all of them older than yours by probably 10 years or so. All of these were bought used and most exhibit some speckling on the bolt.

Humidity is a concern here in Florida. Despite being over 40 years old,the rifle is in superb condition and I would like it to remain so. I am surprised it has not corroded and wondered if the bolt contained a higher chromium content.
