I just went to Gander and got the paperwork started on a Rem 870 12 ga slug gun.
What do you mean "paperwork"? Did you have to order it or something? That should be an in and out purchase, like buying a pack of smokes or a 6 pack of beer.
Something clever here.

Sorry gopher but... that's pretty damn funny. lol!
So after hunting all week, I finally see a deer, and it's a fantastic plastic! Yeah-it's kind of funny! I just wish it hadn't happened to me!

I got my hands on a muzzle loader last night. A smoking deal would even begin to do the deal justice. It's a TC Impact. A low end line of muzzle loader from tc. So today I picked up some bullets, powder and I had some primers from years past. It's windy as hell again today and I didn't have a lot of time or high hopes for getting dialed in on a short time frame. I used 100gr of 777, and 300gr TC bullets. Shot 1 at 50 yards was just off the 4" circle. I almost adjusted the sights but thought I'd take one more first. Shot 2,3,and 4 were in the black, about 1" high of center. I cleaned it and took one more poke...1" lower than the others and about 1" left of center. I never touched the sights. It's minute of deer as far as I'm concerned. So find us a REAL buck Gopher! I know where there's one that won't be too hard to hit, but as for the REAL part......... I bet that guy's still either swearing at me or laughing so hard he fell out of the danged tree.

Was it a set of 8 deer and a sleigh with a jolly good fellow at the reins or was it just a single buck deer? Red nosed or "regular"? LOL!! Ok, I'll stop!

Yep, keep you hanging around the store so you'll buy something else.

Camp Isabella update
Well it did warm up today, got to 36.
Now for the bad news. Sat on the stand until 11 this morning and then went to camp for lunch and to do some camp chores. Headed back at 1 and there was a deer track in my footprints not 50 yards from the stand. Nothing seen or shot so everything is normal.
I did sneek up on some duck decoys once but they would not fly so I did not shoot.

Oh man TJ, that stinks.
The first or second hear at Chickenbuck I came in for lunch and the scrape my blind was near was clearly freshened between the time I left and the time came back.
It's a bad feeling.

We had that happen at our camp too, TJAY. Not just one track, but deer followed our trail out to the logging road.
