The alarm went off this morning. I rolled over to see/hear some pretty serious winds and decided to call it quits for this year. Saturday the orange army will have them running all over.

We had a great season. I saw 31 bucks while actually in the tree(s) and lost count of the does. I even managed to put a couple in the freezer. Still, I hate to see it end. I think if I lived in a bow only area I would just put the gun away permanently.

Anyway, here's to dreams of next year.

For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

i have a 125 acre spot in the city limits, so my bow season will get to continue. i'm a lot more excited about hunting it than i am some of my other spots where i can use whatever weapon is in season.

Our bow season runs into January so late bow is always fun when you have a great food source!

I have till the 31st of December to bowhunt nearby watershed land. If I had access to private land, the season runs well into january.

Last year, I saw more deer in the last half of Dec. than the rest of the season, and didn't see another bowhunter.

That can be soo true! I had permission at a place that did not pick their corn that year. LOTS of deer.

That said, I'll have two days of bowhunting in December in your "backyard", so please start fattening a few up for me! wink

I took some vacation time from work the second half of December.
I'll split my hunting time between the bow and muzzleloader.
Kind of nice, nobody in the woods by then and hopefully some snow cover by then.
