Time to go throw some stuff in the old truck, point it north and match up with Tom. The old "itch" is back big time. 'Nothing better than time spent in the woods.
Alarm goes off in 5 hours for the opener! Everything is ready to go. No APR for us Scott.
I'm taking the Old Girl with me tomorrow. She earned it. Took my first buck with her in '86. Feeling a little nostalgic. My birthday today and I hit fiddy. I am now in the Buick target market - sorry ND, no offense.
Happy birthday to ya, Charlie. Glad you got the kinks worked out of your rifle. Good luck and be safe!
BTW, it's been a pretty slow morning as far as deer sightings go. I bumped 3 deer on my way to the stand in the dark this AM, then, around 7:45 I saw what I believe was that goofy looking 9 pointer that I had seen about a week and a half ago. Stay tuned for the rest of the story...
Oh I had your camp north of Ore for some reason...
Good luck with the rest of the tags, I'm heading back out tonight.
I believe it's Orr, but close enough. My crew got a ten pointer, eight pointer and four pointer at our place 30 miles north of Two Harbors. Had about one inch of snow on Friday night so conditions were almost perfect on opening day. A little windy though. No wolf tracks so that was an improvement. Last year there were lots of wolf tracks and 12 guys ended up getting only one deer over the whole season.
I'm stuck at work today but tomorrow its go time again!
Gander Mtn still has not called me back on that 870 slug gun. I'm not a felon so I know the background check went through.
Could I call them? Sure. But at this point it's too late to sight the thing in unless I want to do it in the dark tonight after work.
So I say pizz on 'em! If they can't call me, the customer, back like they said they were going too then they don't deserve the sale or the commission. I'll buy one elsewhere for next year and use my muzzleloader this weekend. I knew there was a reason I don't buy things from that store

There sure are a lot of America haters that want to live here...
Dad and I each took a boy last nite and sat for the evening hunt. All we saw was does, but Hunter and i had one hang out for a long time 15 yards from us. He did a great job staying quiet. Back out tonite with the daughter. Sat will be by myself probably and Sunday grab a boy and shoot a doe is not nice bucks volunteer for my freezer.
Tzone, I rarely drive that minivan since it is the wifes. Instead, I drove my Super Duty. You remember those right? The kind that drives over any Explorers that get in their way? You know Explorers, right? Those are driven by city dwelling men!
What you do today is important, you are trading a day in the rest of your life for it.

Nice try Sally. My man card is still inmy wallet, your la is on the old lady's purse. . Yep, I know what a superduty is. I sold mine for the explorer since I have two other trucks. No mini vans though. .
I'm hoping jack can stay quiet if we have one as close as you boys did!!
you forgot I retrieved my man card. But every day you drive that explorer, a sliver of yours gets removed! Prolly about the size of a quarter right now.
Yeah, staying quiet and still was a chore. Especially when he got hungry when it was 15 yards away and wanted his oreos!
Now get off the computer and get going! I pick up the girl in an hour for her first trip this year to the deer stand.
