Here is the best of my photos from this years hunt.

One day one of the guys caught movement out the corner of his eye. He turned to see that a large mountain lion had just passed a few feet behind him in the snow and was continuing along its way.

About the only thing Id add that doesnt show in the photos is my staredown with a heavy 6x6 bull one morning. I guess he would have scored something around 300. He was about 40 yards away. He seemed well aware that I held only a cow tag and he seemed relaxed knowing that.

Nice pics! I like your butchering shop. What do you hang on the hooks above that island table? How big of a room is that?

Use of the shop was the generosity of a friend and elk hunter. I can't say about the hooks. It seemed very nice - guessing maybe 20'x30'. The place has 12in thick walls to contain the needed insulation. It was well outfitted with cooler, freezer, tenderizer, TV, vacuum sealers, huge grinder, dishwasher, rails sturdy enough to hold multiple animals. It was well planned so that after cleaning it could be rinsed with a hose and would all drain through the floor.

What a great season! Wonderful pictures, thanks for sharing them. Have you ever been to the Mennonite guy's place in Corner (?), His wife has a bakery next door and makes delicious pies and he processes game.

Nice photos, looks like a great hunt. On the one in the field with the tag, it's a little known fact that although the tag has to be detached, punched, and signed as soon as you make the kill, it doesn't have to be attached to the carcass until you get it back to camp or the truck, and begin "transport." That's so that you don't have to worry about the tag coming off when you're dragging or carrying the carcass through the brush.

The elk fell to A-Bolt, 7mmRM, 160gr TTSX (handloads) and X-Bolt 7mmRM, 165gr GameKings (Federal red box).

The damage from the GameKings was remarkable to me.
The shot was a bit foreward - struck the spine in lower neck - a bit in front of the shoulders.
It turned a surprisingly large portion of neck to jelly. Big entry hole.
I was somewhat surprised at how much of the neck was destroyed - unusable for meat.
