Curios how long a succesful coyote hunter waits before changing their call or packing off to another spot to try again.

Depends. For me anywhere from 15 minutes to 40-45 minutes.

Yep. In fresh country 15-20 minutes.In heavily called country,45 minutes.

When I was doing a lot of calling I usually gave a stand 15-20 minutes and moved on. I've played around some when I wasn't worried about moving on and had coyotes come in after an hour but that's unusual. If you get one in immediately,drop him and keep calling. Often times another coyote will come in even though a shot has been fired.

Sounds like we all use similar methods. 15-20 minutes most setups.

I notice that changing too many types of call at a setup seems to turn it off quick.

30 to 40 min's depending on where i'm hunting. Usually coyotes will respond within 15 min's if they are going to come in.

I've been known to lay on a hillside all morning waiting for a coyote to show up. I'll call a little.... maybe use scent/bait.... but mostly just glass. I'm out west, so it's more of a big country game. In the woods and pockets calling, I'll give it 20 min or so.

A coyote can easily cover a mile in 4-5 minutes.... so finding those travel corridors, and sitting on them, can create a new "stand" every 10 minutes or so... without ever moving. I have much more success this way, than calling 15-20 minutes and moving.
