Camp Isabella report

The hunt is over, no more deer. We ended with an eight pointer and a spike.

Half of camp is in the trucks and the rest will be loaded in the morning. Looks like lunch will be at Culvers in Two Harbors tommorrow.

Good hunting to all still at it and you guys and gals just getting started.

To quote SSB, "Congrats to Kendra, RWS, Ton, BM, Bruin, Fluffy and any others I may have missed." Nice job!

Good luck to Mr. Grizzley on the upcoming Sconny opener!

Thanks for the kind birthday wishes!

We went 2 for 5 at our weather shortened camp this year. 2 six points with my brother breaking a 7 year drought. 60 mph winds and rain kept us out of the woods the evening of the second day and the 3rd and 4th day altogether. Had a good laugh after helping my buddy drag his buck through a young aspen stand as thick as a jungle for a half mile. When we finally got to the truck, I dropped my drawers to air out the boys (yes, I was still wearing long johns) and my buddy lit up a smoke. Right about then, another truck comes around the bend of the 2 track, gets a gander at us, and can't find reverse fast enough. Good times.

We have 10 days with 2 more weekends left. I think I'm heading up solo for a few days, then have Turkey day with the Fam, then Fur & Feather with my boy up north.

Good luck to all!

That sounds like a good plan, but, remember, if your plan is working......

.....it's probably an ambush.

wink

I'm always friendly and polite to all the deer I meet, but I also immediately develop a kill plan for each and every one of my fuzzy forest acquaintances. Heaven forbid it should come to that.

grin

We got maybe 1 to 1.5 inches of fresh snow. Things will be very nice and white in the forest for tonight's hunt .

Last weekend for the Minnesota boys. Kind of a melancholy time. Great memories, still fresh on the brain. The weather's changing now-it's really winter this weekend. To all those out working hard to fill a tag, or just spending some time in the woods, good luck folks. 'Sure hope to hear some more success from the Chickenbuckers-Nate's got the hot hand, you better put a rifle in his hands and get him on stand somewhere up there Dave.

I don't know if I'll hunt Sunday or not. 'Gotta work Saturday, and then have a long ride bright and early Monday morning to go mentor another Vision Center Manager in New Ulm. Something about getting up at 2:30 Sunday morning to be in the woods at first light, and then having to drive home from there the same day just isn't real appealing to me right now, but deer season's only 2 weeks long, and it only comes once a year so......

Best of wishes for the Tail End Charlies amongst us heading out this weekend. Special thanks to Dave and the Chickenbuckers for running this great thread.

Good luck guys.
