I am interested is a 308-cal AR, and have a few questions:
1-Which type, DPMS, BM, Rock River, or Armalite?
2-Is there a big weight/handiness difference between the 16" & 20" bbls?
3-Which mags do these guys take?

Why? 308 AR's are heavy and expensive and limited in upper availability/interchangeability. Why not look at a 6.8 or a WSSM in a standard AR platform and have the varibility to interchange bunches of other uppers with it. The mags are much cheaper too.

RickyD. Thanks for answering! because the ammo is very commonly avilable, that's why! I am not currently setup for handloading. if I were, then I would have a 223 with a 458 SOCOM setup (see other thread), as I am very interested in that, but at the preent time, as I say, I am not setup for that, thought that could change in the next 2 years, hence the other Thread, but thanks for the input. Anyone else out there have an opinion as to the 308 platforms???
