This weekend, I picked up a 73 in 32-20. The metal and wood is in very good shape, however, at some point it has been rebarreled with a Remington 32RF barrel. I, of course intend to rebarrel, but would like to know what the profile of a standard octagon barrel is. That is the distance across the flats at the receiver face and 12" farther down the barrel so I can determine shank dimension and taper per foot.

I am looking at Green Mountain barrels, and their tapered pistol caliber barrel appears to be correct, or very close to correct, but I do not want to purchase one and find it not suitable.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I think I have a couple old 32-20 1873 barrels here. I'm sure the bores leave a lot to be desired but they are originals if you want to go that route.
