16 years ago My friend(in the photo) and I started deer hunting. We asked my Grampa to teach us. Gramp hadn't hunted for 13 years but came out of retirement to help us. One of our first walks in the woods near his place he showed us this tree he had sat in to hunt. To climb into the tree he cut down a Cedar tree and trimmed the branches into a ladder. It is one of the landmarks we use and the ladder gramp cut nearly 30 years ago is still there. The Cedar Ladder-

Gents, I have really enjoyed this thread; it's been one of the best ever IMO. Thanks so much for posting these beautiful and varied scenes.
I am leaving for the NE Sandhills this morning to chase whitey or perhaps a big mule deer as both are in our area. I'll do my best to contribute here when I return.

you know the phrase, "few and far between?" That pertains to trees in the Sandhills.

Couple here from the back 40 ! This one from 3 weeks ago: single ladder in a Tamarac swamp. This one from last weekend: Ground blind on a ridge top, 1/2 mile from the single ladder stand. Oh yeah, the weater has changed slightly ! Keep them coming guys. Paul.
