What do you use on turkey? (I don't mean Butterballs)

Now I know Raleigh calls this his squirrel knife but I had him build me one without the leg notch. I gave it a go on the turkey I shot today and boy did it work great. This is my definitely go to blade for large birds.

I shot the 10" gobbler with my bow while hunting today. I'm hunting the neighbor's place so brought him home to clean. He's my biggest bird ever, 20.2# live weight. I know I'm a tad late for Thanksgiving but better late than never.

I always have liked that particular knife that he made for you. I've known it as hid Bird & Trout knife. I love those pins...he made em'...! Very nice wood too. Great package all the way around.
Very nice turkey bird too...!

I'm guessing you're correct about it being his B&T but the one image posted that spurred my interest had the leg bone breaking feature. It was very enjoyable speaking with Raleigh about the build. But then I have to admit I haven't met a knife maker yet that I didn't like. Even some of the more crusty ones have their own special qualities. wink

I gotta agree with you there. Either it attracts a certain kind of individual...or it does something to them that makes em' likable. Either way, all of em' that I've dealt with have been real decent men.

Is an Ingram #4 B&T his B&T with a #4 handle? I have two of his #4s and they are not a B&T design. When I ordered the knives they came with a 2 3/4 blade and were talked of as a caper. -Just curious about your knife-

Nice bird and blade.

I used a BRKT Mini Canadian on my last bird(no idea why):

And a Schrade 156OT(next to the blue patch and middle bottom pic)) on bird before that:

This Marbles caper is an outstanding turkey knife IMO. Problem is, I only have 1 now and it is unused:

believe it or not, these don't work too bad either. Actually, they work "good enough" on most anything that don't require heavy chopping or filleting IMO:

My knife was made by Raleigh Tabor, S30V, 8 inches overall, with a hollow ground 3 1/4 cutting edge and file work.

That's a cool knife. Really nice wood too.
He also made the stamp (buck track) that he used to decorate the hand tooled leather sheath that he also made.

Thank you... they all get some work in here and there. However, that one gets more than its share because it has became one of my all time favorite "most versatile use it on/for anything" knife.
