Shedhorn Sports has 243, 7-08, and 280Ai Montana's (7-08 isn't on the website but is on the shelf)... $1199 each, but a little bargaining will likely get one for less.

My favorite gun people to deal with.

One of, if not the, best selection(s) in the state.

I'm between one of these or a Win EW in 300 WSM. I'd reckon 155 Scenars wouldn't be shabby either.

Having had both, I'd absolutely go with the EW.

IME the 8400 MT's barrel is just too light for the 300 WSM. A no.2 contour would have been ideal. The rifle is certainly shootable, but it does have a fair bit of muzzle jump with full house loads, particularly the 180's and heavier (which to me are what a 300 Mag is all about).

The EW will cost more to get below the 8lb all-up mark however (PT&G Bottom Metal and McMillan Edge Stock).

I think the EW would be sub 8 done up. Supposedly its 6lb 12oz naked. I'm liking them both and wouldn't mind a little more weight in that caliber. Does the Kimber stock soak up recoil better than the EW's?

Winny Whizzum's cain't touch a Montucky Whizzum's on any level, other than in the schit handling and extry weight departments, which tends to horn Windowlickers up.

Now the Montucky Whizzum kicks "too hard",Jeezus [bleep] when will the nonsense ever [bleep] end?!?

In the 30 version, the Scenar is certainly a great Utility boolit and easily the best pitch. Weight means dick, except to Windowlickers...as the Pretend associated seems to bolster their collective Imaginations.

This schit is always funny!

If only in fairness and to perhaps bolster more Pretend,I reckon it only fair to state that I drove the [bleep] outta a S/S CRF 70 300 Whizzum, dumped into a McMillan,in the Pre-Montucky Days. Sound rifle, but light years shy of Montucky magnitude.

Was on a fiddleback kick at the time.(grin)

Anywhoo,I've prolly been around a Montucky Whizzum too and mighta mebbe even let folks shoot a few of mine, which may have just started more than a few balls rolling. It is interesting to note, that with all them examples(270,7mm,30 and 8mm Whizzum's),I never heard anyone say..."boy,I wish the barrel was heavier!". Laffin'!

I'll tell Sister to quit whacking schit with her Montucky Whizzum, because it "kicks too much".

Just [bleep] WOW.

Now it got better...it's the "dreaded" "muzzle jump"...I'm cryin' I'm laughing so [bleep] hard. Burger King rifle "critiques" is EPIC [bleep] humor!

'Cub,

Perhaps consider talking about first hand experience and wax eloquent on how that one time at Band Camp, you stuck a flute in your poozy. You "hard charger" you. Laffin'!

You rough and tumble gals with the cartoon Avatars, are a Treasure Trove of "info".

Wow +P!

Bless your heart.

Dumbazz still can't read... said it had too much muzzle jump, never said a thing about recoil.

Crawl back in the bottle Napoleon...

I don't know about the soaking part, but the EW stock feels plump in the store.

I just wish that Kimber would offer a Mod. 70 type floorplate system on the Montana and also a banded, front ramp-Sourdough.

I do not care for "blind mags." on my rifles and had the first Edge HC stock on one of my P-64 Fwts, redone to use a Fwt, alloy flooplate and Mod. 70 steel TG....BIT more weight, but, I just happen to prefer it.

Kinda like Remington did on the Alaskan Ti which is a complete Fuster Cluck compared to the original Ti. The only way a Montana can be improved upon, IMO, is if they were more readily available. Would love to get my hands on a .204!

Hey GW, a local dealer has a Kimber SuperAmerica ( I think that's what it's called), wood stocked, fancy forend, in .204. I saw it yesterday. Just a FYI.

Agreed....the M70 EW may be the "perfect" 300 WSM. smile

The 280 Remington is overbore.

The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.
