I was looking to compare the weights on some lighter end rigs because I am planning a new 243 AI lighter weight rifle and wanted to know some of your thoughts.
Can someone tell me the weight scoped/unscoped with say Talley LW rings and something like a 6x42 or 3.5-10 Leupold scope and/or some example pics.
A) Original TI B) Faux TI build C) Kimber Montana
D) What would you do for a full build specs or rebarrel one of the above? Thanks a bunch in advance and good shooting!

I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

Remmy Mod. Seven, "4 screw" STS
Gaillard* MR contour 7-08 bbl. at 22"
Micky Edge KS stock-painted epoxy, neat green-webbed
PTG fluted bolt, alloy light shroud
Rebuilt factory trigger-safety, PTG TG
700-Gen.1-Ti bolt handle, welded on
Talley ULs, now changed
Total-5 lbs, 8 oz.
* Top notch Canadian barrel maker
I bought this last Christmas, it had been built by two of the best guys in BC gunmaking that I have seen in 55+ years of active shooting and "gun nuttery". It WAS built as one of them's personal "sheep rifle" and he later told me, after I purchased it from a gentleman to whom he had first sold it, that he decided to carry more gun in BC's Grizzly country.
With the Leupy VX2-2x7 that I had in one of my safes, sitting idle, it weighed a hair over 6 lbs, all up, empty.
I prefer to use QD mounts so I can use a spare scope in and so I have changed to the Talley 1-piece STEEL base and low TQD-SLs. These, DO add some ozs, and I have been investigating Murphy Precision Ti two piece mounts, which are lighter and VERY costly, but, look like the best available option....
I am thinking a silver VX3 2.5x8, the Murphy Tis and that should go just at 6.25 lbs, a pretty light rifle.
It should be easy to do one like this in the .243AI, or any of the .308-based cartridges.

Buy a Montana, punch it, put a 6x36 loopy on it.
Or spin a 22" MR contour onto an M700 sa, get a ADL McEdge with thin pad, 6x36, blah blah.. Flute and skeleton the bolt, rifle basic trigger.. Lightweight shroud and pin..
Both will be light enough to brag about on here.
You're not building an a bomb..
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...
