I'd like to put together a rifle for LR target shooting and for coyotes/wolves. My first choice would be a 260. or 6.5 Creedmor. I have a couple of guns that might be worth setting up for LR (out to 700 yds). I'd like to stay around 7.5-8 lbs.

#1 Sako A7 243, 1:10 twist. It likes 95 gr BT's and 100 Sierra's.

#2 Sako Finnbear 264 mag. 1:8 twist 24" barrel. It is an early make Serial #13xxx.

#3 Winchester Classic M70 300 WSM. 1:10 24" barrel. This one has a McMillan stock.

I still need a scope. Any ideas?

I'd leave the Sako a .264 Win Mag, and put a REALLY Nice Long Range Scope on it.
Maybe a Leupold 4.5X14 or a 6.5X20 with a Long Range Reticle or a CDS Dial on it.
You can't beat a .264 Win Mag for a long range Varmit Rifle with 85 or 100 grain Ballistic Tips. And if you wanna hunt deer, a 125 grain Partition. Just Sayin.

I do have a Leupold 4.5-14x A/O scope on my 223. I haven't considered the CDS conversion. I am definitely scope poor right now.

Is there a decent bullet for 1:10 243?

In my .243, & my 6mm I shoot the 55grain Ballistic Tip for P-Dogs & Coyotes.

In my heavy barrel .223, I really like the Hornady 50 grain V-Max

You can run a 87 and 95 grain Berger with a 1:10 twist just check their web page to make sure you get the right 95 grain bullet. They aren't in the .500 on G1 BC but they are still pretty decent. Really if you want to get into better bullets you'll need an 1:8 twist at a minimum, that will get you in the 107-105 grain long range bullets. I went 1:7 with my .243 and am trying the 115 DTAC and Berger bullets.

practically all of them from 55 to 100 grains. for what you want the 87 horn, 87 berger and 88 berger. lapua brass, 210m, i would start with h4350,I4064. i would try the .264 with a 6.5-20 on it too.

That .264 with a 140gr berger would be a nice setup, G1 bc .6xx. I'll tell you too, I have a savage long ranger hunter in 7mm I put a vortex viper HS LR on it and it shoots handloads .3 I've been shooting rocks to 850 and I'm dead confident to 550 for big game right now. You could be in a setup like that for under $1500

What are you running to range? Ballistic calc.?

Iclimb - how are you liking that HS LR as far as tracking and holding zero?
Been thinking a 4-16x44 might be nice atop my 7WSM for longer (out to 800) stuff.

I really like it. The glass is nice and clear, but that is secondary to my wants. Tracking has been very precise, mind you, I haven't performed a box test or anything but my sight in tracking has been fine. I've moved the adjustment all the way out and returned to zero and it worked. N my shooting it's always retuned. I got it because back when gunwerks sold an economy rifle it was the glass they used.

I even played with a cheaper Diamondback version on my 25-06 and it ran out to 600 and returned to zero tracking was spot on with my corrected velocity in shooter, very pleased. I sold all other glass and if it's not a nightforce it's my next choice.

Good to hear. Been thinking of the HS LR or simply setting up the Viper 4-12x40 SF with a Kenton turret and coming our 5 ounces and $80 ahead. Who knows...
