What's a clean rem 788 in .222 worth these days? What would someone be willing to pay? Wood and metal look really good. I know it doesn't add much value but it has a BSA sweet 17 scope mounted and some ammo.

I believe I would be a buyer at $350 too. I believe $450 to 500 range depending on condition.

How much ammo is with it?
Buy it, stuff a FFII on it, and kill things.

Got $425 for an average to good early 1970's .243 last summer. Gotta believe that .222 would go for closer to $500.

I believe I would be a buyer at $350 too. I believe $450 to 500 range depending on condition. Cabelas Lone Tree had two. One priced at $550 and it was gone in days. The other was priced at $650 and has been there for weeks. $450 to $550 is what I see them actualy selling for in gun shops here. I lucked into a .243 last month for $249. A steal IMO.

I bought a 222 model 788, very early one, with an actual walnut stock, not birch, a couple years ago for $230. But I don't think that was market value, and I definitely wouldn't sell it for that!

I have 5 788's and have paid from $300-$500 for most of them. $450 is fair if it is in really nice condition. 223's and 222's have always been harder to come by.

Just bought a 788 in 222 for $400. It was a fair price according to a LGS. Good bore, good wood and a friend told me that it was worth more. I am Happy.

But, just because $450 is a fair price, I would still offer $400 to start. :-)

Some just like to appraise guns on here to get a great buy. Personally I like to tell the folks about what they are worth and they can go from there.
