In December of 1981, I heard that Winchester was going out of business. Because of that, I bought a new M-70 Featherweight in 257 Rbts. The gun has been glass bedded. It is unfired, new in the box along with the shipping container and factory sling swivels. The Box has USRA markings but there is nothing but Winchester markings on the gun including the red rubber butt plate. I am thinking of selling the rifle. Any ideas what it may be worth?

Guessing $650-maybe $800 depends on how bad someone wants it.

push feeds will never be as collectable a some other models don't know why. they are wonderful and I like them better than rem 700. I have the same gun and I wouldn't take 800 for it altho that would be about top end..they just didn't make many 257s.

I sold such rifle a couple of years back. I sold it for $950, that was with a Leupold Vari-XIII scope.

Yea but the scope was at least a third of the value on that on Gledeasy. I have sold a few off these although not that caliber and I agree top end is about 800 without optics or something else. Unfortunately the it being unfired doesn't really add to the value since it is a push feed. The Bob has a loyal following and you may get a price bump because of that, but I wouldn't count on it.

For what it's worth - I just bought a CRF model - NIB - just under $800. Only shot a few load development rounds through it so far - have hopes that it will like something I have under my loading bench. It's very comfortable to shoot and once I get the loads down I may give it to my daughter. Best of luck....

Dieselman I agree with you about buying a new one for that price but what your gonna hear is that gun was not made in new haven. I have guns made in both places and don't believe one is better than the other.

Unfortunately the glass bedding is going to hurt the value of your gun. I would think that NIB (without the bedding) you would be looking at $1000 but with bedding about $650 or so.

I like the push feed M70's. They're good guns but they're cheaper because they really don't have a collector value. Being a .257R it'll have some added value.

If the gun in in nice condition, you should be able to get $700. I have M70 feather weight xtr (push feed) in 7x57mm, I wouldn't sell for $700, just because I like it so much.

Are you selling it? Or looking for a trade? If so, what might you be interested in?

I just picked up a used M70 XTR Featherweight in .257 Roberts for $680 plus shipping. Would liked to have payed less, but we're under a time crunch here in CA to get long guns before the mandatory registration starts on new transfers on 1/1/14. Filling out my tags before the season ends!

Check the Blue Book, somewhere up from 95% because of the bedding..

Sold pretty much this exact same rifle, except mine was lightly used, on here 2-3 months ago for $815 shipped. Included a box of ammo and a few pieces of brass. So for rifle only minus shipping, brass, and ammo I guess you could say I got $740-750.
