I use reloads in mine, 117gr Hornady RN is all I've shot in it. This is the second I have owned, first was a tang safety version.

As far as I know Remington & Winchester both offer factory loads for the 250 Savage. These are seasonal ammo runs and not always available.
Remington with a 100grain core locket and Winchester with a 100 grain Silvertip (0ld style). In my experience the loads are virtually interchangeable from an accuracy standpoint. For deer hunting I would probably go with the Remington. Specialty ammo can be had from a variety of sources and you bullet selection increases.

I have a couple of the tang safety 77 RSIs in 250-3000. I don't shoot factory ammo 'cause I don't think much of either of the 100 grain loads offered by Remington or Winchester/Olin.
The 250-3000 has been, for the most part, a reloader's cartridge for the past forty or so years. When I first started shooting the 250-3000, in a Savage 99G, Remington offered two factory loads, both 100 grains, one was a RNCL and the other the same PSP bullet that they offer today. Winchester/Olin offered a 75 grain PSP and the same 100 grain ST that they offer today.
The Rugers all have 1-10" barrels, so you can load/shoot bullets in the 75 to 120 grain range without worry. When I lived in New Hampshire, I frequently carried by 77 RSI in 250-3000 with 117 grain Hornady or Remington RN bullets.

Those old style 117gr RNs are getting hard to find these days. Cool rifle/chambering & load combo BTW. I use reloads in mine, 117gr Hornady RN is all I've shot in it. This is the second I have owned, first was a tang safety version.

Both, low velocity and "meh" accuracy.

The WW Silvertips produced poor groups from my tuned up 700 Classic, and that's a rifle I could use to lighten wallets with good handloads.

I seldom shoot any factory cartridges that aren't rimfire.
One of the reasons that I started handloading at age twelve was to feed my rifles chambered for "odd-ball" cartridges; 218 Bee, 219 Zipper, 244, 25-35, 250-3000, 257Roberts, and 7x57. I figured that I needed to load my own if I was going to get better than "meh" accuracy out of my 99G.

if you're not reloading, I'd probably go .243. its easy to reload for the .250, but i don't think much of the factory ammo thats available.
pretty tough to beat a .250 RSI for cool factor, though.

I have a tang safety that is currently in RLS configuration. I suspect it started life as an RSI. I've not reloaded much for it. For whitetails, I've had good luck with the old Winchester Silvertips 100 grain factory load. I have a couple more boxes on the shelf, and don't shoot many at targets. It's about an 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 MOA on average with them. The load is great for whitetails at the ranges I shoot, which is usually feet to less than 100 yards. Great little gun and cartridge for those wooded, steep Appalachian hills. Bfly

I had my hands on one years ago, kick myself in the rump for not buying it. I was in the magnum craze at that time.

I have the M77 RSI with tang safety in 250. I use Winchester 100 gr Silvertips and Remington 100 gr PSPs in it, the only two factory loads I've ever found. It has a 1.5-5x Leupold Vari-X III, which seems just about perfect to me for the rifle and cartridge. I picked it up at a gun show after my tang safety 243 RSI was stolen. It shoots about 1.5" at 100 with both loads.
One of these days, I hope to have some time to load for it. I have a good supply of new Remington brass. Maybe I'll get to see what it will do with good handloads...

I use a hefty dose of H4831sc with a 110gr. Interbond for whitetails. Bang flop.

What are you asking for it? You say it is new?

definitely on my very short list of rifles I'd like to own...
or any of the Remington Custom Shop short action Mannlicher....

Yep. Very cool. I don't own a 250 Savage, but if I were to, the RSI Ruger would definitely be the platform I'd want.
