Im not a Winchester guy but am trying to learn. I have found one of these for $600 in great condition. As I understand (being an XTR) it is not the more desirable ntrolled tound feed guns like a pre 64 . I have a single shot 243 but I just like this gun.

Don't worry about the controlled round thing. I have two XTR's, one in 300 Win Mag, and one in .270.
They are two of the most accurate rifles in my safe.

I'd say $150.00 too high, unless it has a good scope included.

Last fall I paid $500 for the same rifle in about 90% condition with a 2-7X vari-x II.

600 might be a little steep as these are depressed because everyone goes ga ga over claw extracror. (me included) but the push feeds seem to shoot better. IHMO they are a far superior design than the rem 700. if you like it go for it. the price is not way out of line..let us know how you fare with it..

If you like it buy it. Everybody is gonna tell you something different about what it is worth.

They are great rifles. I have a 7x57, .257R and .270. They are all great shooters. I think it's on the high end, but like was said before, buy it if you like it.

XTRs are very nicely finished and always seem to shoot great. If it is in really nice condition, then I would think that is a fair price.

I like XTR's but the truth is guns have slowed down a lot on their pricing the last few months, I'd try to stick at $500. Regardless of price if you like it get it.

If you get it for $550, you done good. $600 would be good for him, but as most here know, that's ok too if you end up with something you love.
