Ruger's website is showing these in stainless in an 8 twist. I emailed them about a year ago and asked if they thought they would ever make one in that configuration. I was told that it would never happen. I guess I got to buy one now, oh well

I'll be looking to buy one as soon as a few are on the used market. Perfect proverbial truck gun

Briefly had a .308 I picked up for a friend, for the money they're pretty decent.

Anyone know if you can remove the lawyer lever from the trigger? I took it off my savage and I like it a lot more.

If they actually produce these in stainless compact, they will sell a ton of them.

When you get buy the cost cutting measures, these Rugers really shoot!! Do they make an aftermarket trigger? This is what usually hurts these guns

Wonder what the actual retail cost will be?

Ps compact looks tempting, but I already got a T3 SL in .223 so might be hard to justify one of these.

Now a .243 on the other hand.... whistle

I picked one up for a friend of mine, adjusted the trigger down to 3 lbs very easily. Not a fan of the blade, but again for the price they're nice rifles.

I'd mounted a Leupold 3-9x40 in Weaver rings and all up it was 7 1/4 lbs. Just shot some odds and ends old reloads (.308) and it wasn't fussy at all. Seems like that's the norm. Think they'll have a winner with these new offerings.

Anyone have an idea what the .223 cartridge length limits
are on the Ruger?

I remember so many saying Ruger had lost their mind with this one:) Glad to hear they are working well for those who bought them. I too am curious about box length on the 223.

I'll make a WAG and predict they will be blocked to the 2.3" to 2.4" range with proper throating for that OAL, about the same as their Hawkeye .223 box.

They've been fairly astute with their other mag length decisions. They allow a 2.9" length in their short action Hawkeyes for chamberings that have nominal OAL's of 2.8". My American .243 magazine allows an OAL of right at 2.85". Since they are twisting the .223 1 in 8 they have a good idea of what length bullets will be used so they'll probably get the mag box length pretty close to right.

Stainless .22-250 with 10" twist looks nice. Wonder if the 62gr TTSX would fly with this twist. Talk about a great truck/beater gun.

Fingered a blue RAR Compact in .243 @local gun store and its a feather. I like the short LOP and 18-in. Bbl.

It'd be gnarly to punch SS Compact to AI in .223-.22/250-.243...talk about budget death on a cracker.

Funny I was thinking .22-250AI myself but not the compact.

Are their barrels threaded/screwed in just like most other rifles or pressed in?

No, I like Ruger. I wouldn't have destroyed the Savage if I could have found a Tikka...
