Hi,

When I am not out hunting I enjoy reading about it blush
I have a collection of books from continental Europe, UK, NZ etc but I dont have many from the US. I am yet to find something interesting... I am not looking for any manual type of "how to hunt deer" or "how to bag the biggest buck" crap, but sort of memoir, reminiscence, autobiography type of books showing US style of hunting. Recommend me something worth reading!

Find yourself a copy of the original; The Still-Hunter by Theodore S. Van Dyke, published in 1882 & Revised in 1904. I believe you can find a copy scanned on the Internet for no charge. After that one, I would look for Shots at Whitetails by Lawrence (Larry) Kohler, originally published in 1948, Jack O'Connor penned a new introduction and the book was republished again in 1970. I saw a new, coffee table size version that was a republication of the 1970 edition about 10 years ago. Those two will give you the basics of the type of book I think you are looking for.

Ps Don't forget to re-read The Song of Hiawatha (that is an early deer hunters story).

Just finished reading "Classic O'Connor".
Not all about deer hunting but a collection of his articles from his magazine days.

I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all.

Larry Benoit's first book, "How to Bag the Biggest Buck of Your Life".
There's more to the book than the title indicates. A good read about hunting the big woods of Northern New England.

While not strictly about deer hunting, I believe you will love this book.
