I guess I'm asking for something really specific here but we'll give it a shot. Hopefully we can come up with some kind of answer without a lot of, "Sell your gun & buy what I'm shooting" kind of answers. What I have is a Mossberg 935 auto. Love the gun but I'm trying to make something work. I have a Kicks Gobbling Thunder (.680") choke for turkey hunting that does an awesome job. I generally use this choke & 3" #4 turkey loads for both turkey & predators. I recently had someone give me about 500 rounds of 3 1/2" BB steel shot & I'm looking for a choke to use these shells for predator hunting (can't argue with free ammo...). I generally hunt with a buddy & shotgun shooting is reserved for 45-50 yards or less & anything more is left to the other shooter with a rifle. Honestly, money is tight & buying 3 or 4 chokes at $80 to $100 each to try out isn't really feasible. I'm hoping maybe somebody else here is shooting the same gun (or an 835) for ?geese? and can recommend something. I'd love to find something that would throw a pattern like my Kicks does with the steel. I'm open for anything, Patternmaster, Pure Gold, Kicks, Carlson's, Billy Bob's or anybody else. I've never been a steel shooter or really a shotgunner much except for spring gobblers or a little crow shooting so any input is appreciated.

Normally you buy a choke and pattern different ammo to find what shoots best out of that choke. Now you have the ammo you need to pick what choke. My suggestion is not use a constricted base choke tube. Using steel in your turkey choke is too constricted for steel shot.In my opinion would try the Patternmaster Code Black Goose choke tube. Safe to shot #8 shot all they way to 000 buckshot with lead, steel or any non-toxic shot. With the 1-1/2" in length of tube will give a dense full pattern with the 3.5" ammo that you have.

Have you tried the factory flush modified with said loads? I think you'll be surprised. I don't even own any extended chokes for either of my 935's.

I have a factory flush Accu-Choke in Mod (.730) and it puts an average of 36 pellets on a 28"x28" sheet of cardboard at 30 yards. I feel like 36 out of 99 pellets ain't the best odds or the best option for coyotes. I'd like to find something that'd keep at least 65-70% of pellets on that sheet at 40 yards. I did talk to a guy at work today that has an 835 & a whole case of tubes for it & he's gonna let me swipe them for some testing. Hopefully I can find something that'll suit me.

To be continued......

Carlson's Extended Range works great with steel.
