I'm talking about side-hilling. I've spent a ton of time on a Trackster and Bomby sno-cat. Vertical is cake. Sidehill, the downhill track has to spin faster than the uphill. I can't see that happening with 4....

I'm not talking 'safe' on a steep slope, I'm meaning maintaining elevation without drifting downhill even on a moderate slope. A trackster or 'cat needs the downhill track to turn faster than the uphill, just to stay on a level course. Sure can't see how you'd be able to do that on a tracked quad.

A friend of mine here in N.Idaho is a Forrester and has all but quit using tires & snow machines. He swears buy big H.P. & Matttracks.

Got a chance to play in the snow with a Ranger on tracks. Worked real well. Not a real good option if you like going fast. They do put more stress on the axle components and will break stuff if you hit a stump or snow berm wrong.
I had a set for the rear wheels of my 6x6 big boss, but without really big tires on the front they did not help much.
Have also heard that the TJD's are more durable than the camoplasts.
Steep sidehilling would sure make one pucker.....

I emailed the maker of the Dominator Track System & asked if front or rear lockers are necessary. He said that my Bronco II would work without them but they'd be a big benefit. A set of tracks would cost 5x more than the Bronco is worth. It's just fun looking.

Not really, I already pull a 6' x 12' tandem axel Cargo Trailer to haul all my camping gear.
