Specifically what about the coating on the silver tips ? I know they claim the coating reduces fouling , but anybody out there shoot them enough to see a difference ? Also ever see any performance differences between them and ballistic tips , such as POI difference or velocity difference ? I have and continue to use the .308 150 and 180 in both silvertip and ballistic tip and havent noticed any difference , just buy which ever i can find , but am interested in trying the 140 and 150 in 7mm and got curious about the coating .

I've never seen any significant difference in fouling or other performance.

I've shot a ton of each, and in general see very little difference. I use the same load data for both.

I use them both. Personally I don't quite get the consistent accuracy from the Winchester Silver Tips, as compared to the NBT's.

I like them just fine, but recall having some accuracy issues when switching back and forth between the coated and non-coated versions. I'd stick with one or the other in a given barrel.

My primary concern with hunting bullets is that they hit right on or in other words that they stay sighted in from a cold barrel.

I don't find that fouling to be a problem with those rifles.

I keep records on them if the shot(s) fired is from a cold, hot, clean or fouled barrel.

I have both BT's and the Nosler Combined Technology Ballistic Silvertips in .308" 150 gr.

So far it may be the specific rifle that varies and not the bullet or load.

The weather here in CT has turned bad so I will not be testing soon outdoors.

I do like the looks of the coating however.

Lubealox is a non-molly product. It comes right out with standard cleaning techniques. I'm surprised it's given you any issues.

Oh I didn't mean that it was difficult to clean, just that a bit of Lubalox in the bore might have a POI affect on non-coated bullets for a few rounds. Same might apply to changing back to Lubalox after shooting uncoated bullets. Can make load development frustrating if swapping back and forth in same range session.
