Country music ended with Ray Price, Johnny Cash, Dottie West, Jim Reeves, Connie Smith, etc. The modern stuff just sucks!

Today's country music is the Special Olympics of music.

That being said I do enjoy Allison Krauss and Union Station but they are considered more bluegrass that country which is fine by me.

That's funny and Allison Krauss has the voice of an angel, as does Emmylou Harris.

So, are you sayin' the Red Headed Stranger ain't country?

Agreed. Some of it is even close to 'country'.

Of course not. Everybody after Gene Autry and Floyd Crammer were considered hippies by my Dad's generation. Singers like Willie, Waylon and Merle were like the gansta rappers of the '60's. Conway Twitty wasn't liked by anybody but little girls. My point is that music changes, and what the young folks like is what will last.

I was just razzin Taknee over his emphasis on "country" instead of the drug issue.
I was talkin to a road manager of one of the very folks you just mentioned and he told me that back in the day it took over 35 thousand dollars worth of cocaine a month just to keep the rodies and support crew together for a cross country tour....it was crazy.

New country music is far better than new rap, new rock, new indie rock, and pretty much anything else that is new.
