Am looking for input on a rest to be used primarily with revolvers during load development. I do not want to go so far as the Ransom system, just need a well designed and built adjustable rest.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I use a Hornady Delta Rest some. Tipping it up so one end is higher than the other will put the barrel into a V which will be a little more stable.
I haven't used an Outer's "Pistol Perch" but it might be worth a look.
The main important thing for me is to have the side of my right hand down on something so I'm not having to free-hand the back half of the gun. Towel, pair of socks, rolled up coat sleeve, etc works fine. If you're shooting something with some recoil, a little extra thickness helps. You don't want hand flesh between the gun butt and table top, that hurts, trust me.
G' luck ...

I don't like anything touching the barrel, and I like it to recoil like it will offhand, so I just prop my wrists on sandbags. I like a load I know I can shoot well offhand at 20yards and supported at 50y. I usually alternate groups with an accurate 22 to make sure I'm shooting well before I give up on a load.

I like to rest the front sight in my forehead when I shoot max loads in my BFR 500 S&W.

I've had a Ransom Rest for 35 years or so. I no longer use it and I'd like to sell it (Ransom Rest, Windage Base and 5 inserts). Any takers?

I just settle my hands snug in the "crotch" of a sandbag. The gun touches noting but my hands.
