good luck on the job! I almost took a job with the VA here in town, and now they are shutting it down, that woulda been a bad deal! gonna dry this place up I'm afraid.

Today is my last deer hunting day. season ends the 15th but I have one tag left and am hunting with my dad to finish the season. we saw a bunch yesterday when we were out, fingers crossed for a tag out, short drag last day

Any of you boys know anything about hardwood flooring? I'm looking for some prefinished stuff for our addition which is family room, dining room and hallway. Which is better engineered or solid? I want something with contrast in the wood, such as hickory or maple, or maybe birch. Anything good or bad about one brand or another I'm all ears?

lumber liquidators usually has some pretty darn good prices on wood flooring. We have had both engineered and solid wood and the solid wood has held up better....but....that is a sample size of 1 so take it with a grain of salt. You can refinish the solid wood more than the engineered, but realistically I dont know many people who are going to refinish their floor more than once or twice.

One big decision is if you want the sculpted or textured (it looks like there is a very slight longitudinal wave) vs the perfectly flat. I have had the flat.

I refinished our wood floors, that's about all I know when it comes to them.
my folks had the hand scraped in their house in Colorado and I really liked the look and feel of that. plus it wasn't as noticeable when it came to being dusty or a little dog hair like perfectly smooth floors show.

I put in prefinished hickory. Got it from Menards.

It looks great but it seems to have lost some of the color contrast.

I plan on refinishing it at some point to seal up all of the joints. I'm very careful about wiping up any spills immediately so they don't soak into the cracks.

It seems pretty durable but I'm sure a quality coating would be better.


If I were to do it again I'd sand & coat the surface after installation.

Ever try that murphy's oil soap?

We had the original wood floors restored 2 years ago ( Had been covered with carpet for years). We discovered that we had a mix of Black Ash, Maple, Hickory and a Oak. The result was awesome.

You might want to consider a mixture of woods to get the contrast you want.

My little buddy had his first wrestling dual up in Pine City yesterday and he placed 3rd and got his first pin. He was pretty excited.

It's fun to watch him and learn. I know absolutely nothing about traditional wrestling and it's neat to see him progress.

We released it through the living room floor.

My favorite Preacher fishin story was when we were in WB's fish shack. Joe was about 4 or 5 and a bobber in the shack started to go under. Preacher points it out and WB says "you know what to do Joe?" Preacher says "OH YEAH, I got IT!" and reels up the fish with a [bleep]' grin only the Preacher can have.

That still makes me smile like heck.

What kind of boot camp WB?

We breed according to genetics to make good wrestlers up here. It's that serious.

If I remember right, we just walked into the house to visit, they had been watching dead bobbers. Joe walks over, grabs a rod, sets the hook. Scott tossed it in the pail and Joe said something like "Well, that was easy."
