I'm thinking of 2lbs. of beans cooked at my house on Thursday.
Then bring em down. They are ahhhh hot so I do hope you like hot.
Will also bring PPlates, plastic ware, etc. that kind of stuff.
Maybe cook a peach cobbler in dutch oven.

I'm in NC right now, visiting my Mom. I haven't been out here to see her in a while and it was past time.

I would really like to see the sticky. grin

Does anyone know if there is a secret handshake or a payoff I need to make to get it done? laugh

Ed

Don't know.
Maybe the Alabama boys will release their thread and we can take that spot. Lots of them up on sticky, so maybe one needs to go for us to get up on top.

Real glad your out visiting your mom. Good man

Oh, went to a auction. Was going to bid real hard on a Win 1895, 30/40. Wanted to bring it to this weekend.
Got there and it was the 30/06 instead.
Quit bidding right under $1,000. Some people really want something and price doesn't seem to matter. That old boy bought 5 old winchesters. Greedy or I'm poor.
bought a Colt police positive instead. 38 special
Will of course bring my Springfield 30/40.

Gotta spend time with my Mom grin

5' nuthin', 100 lbs of spitfire, brains, wit, patience and the love of God. Oh, and she's 83 years young. laugh

I still think we need to have a. 30-40 Krag shoot, maybe make it a pre-WW I military caliber shoot.

What say you guys?

Have the one 30/40 Krag, several 91/30 if they make the cut, one 6.5 x 55.

Went to a gun show few weeks ago, saw some cannons, little to bigger. Came real close to purchasing one. Then said no I can't get into something else no no no. Didn't buy one.

We could get really picky and say only military rifles built before WW I, or go all the way and say any rifle chambered in a pre-WW I caliber, regardless of nationality.

That would include .30-06,.303Brit, 7.62x54R, 6.5x55, the Mannlicher-Schoenauer, the Lebels, the Mauser variants, the Spencers, US Gov Sharps cartridges, the Danish Rolling Block calibers, and a bunch more I can't recall right now.

I'd like to see a shoot with original rifles & replicas and another with any rifle but using original spec ammo.

Opinions?

Sounds good ED. Houston Pat, you can shoot my 30/40 or the 6.5 x 55. Both iron sights or peep site.
Ammo for the Russian is real cheap to buy and shoot. Another good one to bring.
I personal will not shoot reloads in my 30/40 for a while. Have to keep under 40,000 for safety.
Love for Gunner to bring his sharps.
Pat you can bring your brand new one so we can just look too.

Going to be fun guys, gals and kids.

IIRC, the Chilean Carbines came about around 1912. But the original Mauser rifles were 1895 models.

As to shooting reloads in a Krag, I have a T/C Contender Carbine and only shoot loads under 40K psi, following original specs.

Uncas killed that fine Kansas buck with it and plinking handloads that ran ~20K psi.

I wish I still had the Polish made Model 38 carbine in 7.62x54R. blush frown
