I have been thinking about picking up a latter 1980 Model 70 XTR in 243 to shoot targets out to 3-400 yds. Comments Appreciated.

If you can find one ,be on the look out for a mid 90's Sporter Varmint, I had a super shooter and let a guy that had worked for me 16 years have it and a fixed leupold 12X , For a factory barrel, hammer forged rig with only a trigger job by me, I sold it to him to partially finance my 56' Varminter in 243. The 56' is a shooter with any ammo I put in it but the old Federal prem,70gr BT's is smoking and sub 1/2 on bluebird , cool ,no wind days if I have not had to much coffee or beer! very best on your find
