pretty crowded the couple of times i hunted this unit. bears are pretty bad also,suppose to have grizzly bears in the wilderness above the middle fork. signs put up by the DOW showing the difference between grizzlies and brown color phase black bears. i hunted first gun season and muzzle loader. takes some snow to get the elk down where you can hunt them, rugged by Colrado standards. seems to me the bow and primitive weapon hunters put alot of pressure and push the elk further than flatlander like me can get to them. i took a 5x5 elk with a muzzleloader. earlier season alot of tourist on the roads between Cimmaron to Owl Creek Pass. the original True Grit movie with John Wayne was shot there around Courthouse Mtn.
