We will be hunting with muzzle loaders in Tennessee later this year and wife needs a rifle.
Any suggestions for which one's to show her? Her LOP is about 13 inches and most likely either .45 or .50. Shots would be limited to no more than 6o yards.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

May want to throw in any preferences to inline/percussion/flinter
and bullet preferences if that stuff affects your decision at all.

Percussion, 209 primer would work well. Never really hunted with a smoke pole before although I bought a lefty .54 caliber decades ago, just in case. Trying to find some rifles to give her several to choose from and want to follow the KISS principle.

KISS and muzzleloaders don't really go hand in hand. But, about as close as you could get would be pellets and conicals with the built in plastic base, like a Power Belt. An inline for sure, much easier for a novice to operate.
Best thing to do is cruise the shops and find what fits her and then go from there.

Are pellets and shotgun primers legal for the season you want her to hunt in? Worth checking.

If price is medium then I'm going to lean to CVA Optima in stainless because of the ease of operation, and decent quality for your capital invested. If she likes the ML hunts then you can get more into it and you have a decent back up rifle to boot.

I now have 3 TC Triumphs. I can't think of anything more suited to a smaller shooter.
What would Porter Rockwell do?

I can think of at least 3 current models better suited to smaller framed shooters.
T/C Impact,,its has an adjustable LOP CVA Wolf or Wolf with youth stock Knight Little Horn or BigHorn with Little Horn Stock
Whats the LOP on a Triumph.....14" with a fairly high comb?
Omega X7 would be sweet if you could find one but it would need a different recoil pad to shorten the LOP. The OEM pad is pretty thick.

A TC Impact would be a great option.
They are priced right and have an adjustable stock. Plus, they shoot lights out.
For 60 yard shots you can back off the load and make it very confortable on the recoil side of things.

For caliber, stick with .50, many more options for bullets and all you need for deer.

She liked the looks of the TC Impact camo so we went with that. Am sure it will shoot well enough to hit a deer under 100 yards. She told me she wants a scope on it as well. 13.5 LOP might just fit her with a light jacket on. If she is wearing a heavy coat the 12.5 LOP should be good. Now I get to buy one for myself:) Am looking at the TC Triumph.

Good Choice on the TC for her ! Keep her Happy! My Daughter & Hubby moved to Colorful couple yrs ago Auora for a while and then Lakewood. I'm tryin to get back out there for Elk this year. What part are you from ? Rich BD March, 1939 still goin' strong.

Just remember if your going to ever hunt over here in Colorado there are some stiff rules on Muzzle Loader hunting. Check the current guidebook and get some practice in.

Thanks, But I don't have any plans to hunt any animals in Colorado with or without a muzzle loader.
Dropped by Cabelas yesterday and after examining the rack of ML's decided to go with a CVA Accura V2. It fit me the best and am sure it will shoot minute of whitetail at 50-100 yards.
