The primers don't look bad to me, and I've run my m77 in 257R up to where they did look bad, but iimo, if you are getting 2800+ you aren't going to gain much by getting to 3000fps. Again my opinion.

I've been shooting the 115 bt at 2800fps, and have killed deer to to 372yrds (held 16" high of impact and got it, from 200yd zero). Whatever speed you find accuracy at, you need to learn the drop at 'x' range anyway. An inch or two more or less drop at 300 don't mean all that much, you are still holding off or dialing in to place the hit.

You are also at a disadvantage with the 20" barrel to reach top velocity. Most book speeds are from a 24"+ test barrel, so your top speed for that rifle is going to fall short of most book numbers.

I'd go with a lighter bullet if you were looking for more speed, or just find accuracy with the 110's and let'er rip.

My custom pre 64 M70 hates light and mono metal bullets but loves the heavier 115 BT and 120 PT with either of the 4831's.

davet,

Primer appearance has ZIP to do with pressures. That's been proven over and over and over again for decades.

But whatever.

My Roberts is a Ruger Ultralight and it will not shoot 4350. I went to H4831 and the 115 NBT and got repeatable 1" accuracy for 3 shots at 100yds.

When I die I hope I don't start voting democrat.

Might as well throw a plug in for the "Lee Safety Powder Scale" #90681.

After setting the scale to zero, then going to 46.5gn. Check with the "Lyman scale check weight set" #7752313.

Not bad.......

That 2.918" COL seems short for a long action. I might look into a longer throat in order to take advantage of that longer box magazine.

I also use IMR-4350 with A Sierra 100gr. Game King setting on top. I shoot a Remington 7600 In .257 Rbts. and get sub MOA groups. The Sierra is deadly on Deer.

Finally got out yesterday to shoot what I had loaded. The gun shot well, but it's only a 50 yard target. I was looking for chrono speeds with what I loaded. Ruger 20" UL.

Started with 3 factory Nosler 110s. Top left.
Fps 2867, 2812, 2777.

IMR4350 46gr & 46.5gr. Top right.
2855, 2861, 2879, & 2943, 2923, 2923.

IMR4350 47gr. Bottom right.
2976, 2969, 2949.

IMR4350 47.5gr. Bottom left.
2969, 2976, 2982.

IMR4350 48gr. Center
3016, 3044, 3051.

No pressure signs that I could detect. I am going to work with the 47gr load. Move to 100 & 200. Also picked up some H4831sc, will have to try that also.
