Normally I don't cast aspersions on a blade maker, but I thought that this marketing ploy was a little over the top.

A number of popular makers do the raffle thing, particularly at shows. I would like to have problems like that. LOL

Ernie Emerson was the first guy I heard of doing that, but it is apparently not that uncommon amongst the hot tactical makers at shows like Blade and the USN Gathering.

I hear that, I wish that could be an issue I was having to deal with as well.

Cody has so many orders he stopped taking them. This is a way to let a few people on the list. Nice problem to have.

Hell I would like to see Brett Dowell or Rick Menefee and others do the same thing. I am too damned old to wait out all the long lines! LOL

I certainly did not mean this question as a slam on Cody. I honestly had never seen anyone have a drawing for who would be allowed to order. laugh

Since I started making knives and hanging out with knife makers, there is no custom knife that I desire like I once did. They are all just knives to me now. No magic in any of them. I can make just about anything I can dream up. There is just no way I would ever get on a list any more.

Funny you should say that. I wonder how many knifemakers over the years started because the either could not get the knife they wanted or couldn't afford it/didn't want to pay for it? I know that Bob Loveless said that he started making knives because he went to Abercrombie and Fitch to buy a Randall and they either didn't have what he wanted available or they cost too much.

I should have also said that I now completely understand why they cost what they do. I actually doubt if most makers are earning minimum wage for their time.
