How do the shipping of trophies home costs compare between the two countries?

Shipping costs are dictated by volumetric weight vs actual weight. By implication one cannot predict the cost of any shipment for two reasons: 1. you cannot determine what the volumetric weight is going to be until you have all your animals harvested. A good shipping company will be able to tell you that the average bag od kudu (oversized) eland, hog and impala will be X sq ft and will be able to quote on grounds of past experience, but in real time. Shipping costs vary almost month-to-month and 2. nobody knows how fuel cost increases or decreases will affect shipping cost.

Ask for an average cost from a shipping company of a 4 animal bag, and mention the animals and forseen mount styles. They may be able to help.

I wasn't wanting a price quote per say, I was wondering, given the exact same size shipping container, if the shipping prices from Namibia were generally more, less, or the same as shipping the exact same size/weight container from SA.

I'd contact an expediter. They may be able to answer that question.

Orpa is in the right area. Another one is a PH I know and like, Erden Hunting
http://www.erdenhunting.com

He even had some horseback hunts for Mountain Zebra. Ive sent a lot of people to him, many were the "hard to please" types, and all came back beaming with smiles...

If Hartmann's is on your list, your destination is obvious..... Namibia.

I'd have three recommendations:

1. Gras Ranch (Jannie Spangenberg / Errol Lambrechts)
2. Shona Hunting Adventures (Johann Veldsman)
3. Sebra Hunting Safaris (Jan du Plessis)

For a whopper Kudu, I'd be looking elsewhere as Namibian Kudu still hasn't recovered from rabies outbreak.

From what I've heard from the guys on the ground over there, it would be tough.

Reasonable expectation would likely be 50-52"

I did kill a nice one. I have to say though that the most underrated (by me) and most appreciated trophy I killed was my zebra. I was stunned by how beautiful and wild they were. I figured I'd try to bring another rug home, this one being the mtn zebra. I never got tired to watching and hunting the kudu though either, or the oryx.........I guess I loved every stinkin' minute of it come to think of it.

55" is reasonable, but don't set your heart on it, it don't always happen..shoot what you like. Ingwewife killed one with big loopy spirals that made it tape well, but it doesn't look as handsome to me as my measly 52 incher wink

Dooooood! YES!

Oddly enough I liked the burgers best, but a good steak is not to be despised. Had a big one at Joes Beer House in Windhoek one night..

Windhoek Lager!

Or if they have it- and I'll bet they do- I really liked Tafel on Tap.

Understood. I cannot imagine there would be a major difference but if they have direct flights to the US they could end up slightly cheaper.
