Saw this video on GumsAmerica. Looks like Black Hills has convinced Sierra to make the bullet for them in 175gr .30cal and 77gr .22cal for their loaded ammunition. Tipped Sierra

Welcome to 1995 Sierra! Better than having nothing new, I suppose. It would be nice if they'd come up with something slightly significant. Better yet, make some damn 142 MKs. They're harder to find and have been MIA longer than Berger Hybrids.

At least Sierra doesn't introduce the new bullet line every couple of years only to discontinue it shortly thereafter ( Solid Base, X bullet, XLC, deep shock, deep curl, etc)

Does this mean they'll recommend the SMK for game now?

Doubtful, but maybe on-game performance might be a bit more reliable/predictable than the hollowpoint version.

Called Sierra yesterday after reading this thread... the polymer tipped version of the bullets won't be offered to we handloaders due to contractual agreements with Black Hills...

Fcuk 'em, Hornady appreciates their stubbornness all the way to the bank.
