Mine is a 1927 manufactured Win '94, bought new by my father. I'm 65, and carry it as my walk-around rifle up here. Been here since 1968, and have checked sight (hasn't moved) maybe 4 times since, but I killed a whitetail doe with it in 1965 in North Dakota, as a senior in High School... smile

compared to some, I've got late model stuff, but the one with the most vintage is a 1906 Essex 16 ga. single shot shotgun. King of the sodbusters I was with that shotgun.

killed my first quail with it when I was around 12 years old, extractor was non functional so I had to dig out the empty hull with a pocketknife.

as it incredible as it must seem I was even dumber back then.

also have a 1912 crackshot .22

they were my Grandpa Troy's guns and them and one lil pocket knife is all I have to remember him by as he died when I was 5.

now his son, my dad is gone too, but I figure there's some oil and sweat from their hands in those stocks and forearms.

Those firearms are more valuable than mine, but you already know that.

I don't know what year it was manufactured, but I have a Savage Model 3 single shot 22 my Grandfather won in a shooting contest and gave to my Grandmother prior to getting married; she shot as well if not better than he did.

Granddad died about five years ago at 89, I lost Grandma this past August at 92....don't know how old the rifle is, but it's old.

I have two of them vying for the oldest. A 1902 Winchester single 22 and an Ithaca Lewis 10 gauge 2 7/8" that I know was made in 1902. The Winchester I'm not sure on the date of manufacture.

Even my oldest is a youngster in this company:

1929 Husqvarna Model 46 9.3x57

Maybe 'needing' an older and more historic gun is excuse enough to start shopping.

Any excuse will do.

Stevens 44 1/2 purchased by my great-grandfather in the early 1900s to shoot small-bore match. Factory barrel is chambered in .22LR and I had a barrel made last year by Paul and Gail Shuttleworth at CPA chambered in .30-40 Krag. It shoots cast boolits very nicely into 1" or less 10 shot groups at 100 yds. I haven't put a jacketed bullet through the bore yet. The original .22LR barrel is the most precise barrel I've ever shot - with the Stevens external adjustment 6x scope that was ordered with the rifle I can literally write my name at 50yds with Wolf and Eley match ammunition. Unfortunately it's far more economical to shoot the .30-40 Krag barrel with cast boolits....but I've shot a lot of squirrels with that .22LR barrel!

I have a Martini Henry dated 1877 that's South African marked. Who knows, it may have been at Rorke's Drift!

I also have a percussion muzzle loader with a Golcher lock that's probably older, but I have no idea how much.

I have my grand dad's British Bulldog revolver, circa Custer's Battle of Little Big Horn.

Model '97 Win 12 gauge 30". Made in 1913. Took a turkey last year for it's 100th Birthday!

Model 94 Winchester in 30 WCF (barrel markings call it that). Williams tang peep. My Grandfather was born in 1894 and bought that rifle in 1914. He used it to make sure his family had meat as well as something to trade to the General Store and/or the hard rock miners in Gilmore, Idaho.
