Would a miniature schnauser make a suitable squirrel dog?

Considering my Great-Grandpa, any dog would seem to make a good squirrel dog. I noticed no preference to species on his part, but it seemed he liked small "wirey" dogs for the job. Seems subjective, but boy did he get the squirrels.

<br>Old Punk is 14.5 years old now; hard of hearing and has cataracts, but he still gets around amazingly well for a dog his age. Season opens here in 2 weeks, and we will be out there opening day.

he has an excellent squirrel dog and knows more about it than anyone I know.

Most any dog can become a good squirrel dog but the rat terrier seems to make a real good one. Heck I have a lab that does a pretty good job hunting squirrels but then again he will hunt dang near anthing, he retreives ducks, doves, works good on pheasant and even points quail. He is my real hunting buddy, I don't know what I would do without him.
