G'day folks, I've been Loooking at the Model 70 Safari express in 375H&H, can someone tell me if there are any issues with the magazine length, ie being able to seat the projectile out to optimum length?
Cheers, Scott.

Depends on what you call optimum length. I had no trouble finding good loads with the 270 TSX and the 300 banded solid.

Thanks for the reply mate, I've read that the magazine well is shorter than some Holland rifles and was just wondering if it was a limitation at all. Good to hear you've had no problem. Cheers, Scott.

As far as I know the standard M70 has always been able to handle the 375 H&H length cartridges. If you mean can you seat a given bullet out to get closer to the lands I suppose only you can find that out.
I once had a M70 in 30-06 that would not take cartridges loaded to 3.340, the M.C.O.L. for the 30-06. The magazine was fine, but with the 180g Nosler PT I was using I could only load them to 3.329.

Shouldn't be an issue. I have the New Haven SS Classic in .375 H&H. I haven't handled the FN, SC version. The box mag is full length magnum, mine measuring 3.75". Many here on the Fire prefer the NH trigger over the SC one. Mine adjusted to 3# and is really good. Winchester uses the same heavy barrel contour with their .458, .416 and .375. It's easy to see how the .375 has a lot more steel in the barrel due to smaller caliber. The 24", .375 bbl. is way too heavy, causing the gun to handle like a club. I cut mine to 21", which greatly improved balance and handling. The factory barrel shoots really well and is too good to replace with a lighter aftermarket barrel. As shown, this gun with scope weighs 9#, 2 oz. NECG iron sights, fiber optic front. IMHO, this is one of the least expensive ways to have a top performing DG rifle that's just about bullet proof. I re-bedded the Tupperware stock, using Steel Bed. I jerked the hot glue looking stuff out, drilled holes so the Steel Bed would be locked in. Stuff doesn't stick all that well to Tupperware. DF

For my antique eyes, the FO sight is great. And, it's hard to beat NECG.
