Today is our 42nd below zero day of the season. The record is 46 days. Pretty sure we're going to break it.

Frozen water pipes are a problem in some cities. At least 4 cities/villages are telling people to run a small stream of water from their faucets.

I don't even count anymore. I just keep putting my wool socks and LJ's on before I go to work. Probably have had more coffee in the last 3 months than in the last 3 years combined though.

EH76 and Bobcape are coming over and we're gonna can some venison, it's my first time, so I'm excited to learn this new way of preservation. I suppose I'll be deemed a "prepper" for long term food storage LOL. I just hate paying to run 2 freezers half the year.

Not a lot here. I'd like to go check out a few trucks and maybe fire up the cross country skis. Tomorrow is a wrestling meet for the Mini Man.

I'm going to spend the afternoon getting to know the new fish camper before I take it out on the ice. I want to get a good feel for how everything works.

The stuff that isn't going right onto a grill as-is is already sausage.

you got me there. I'm glad I learned how to do this, it's a little involved but no more than reloading, once you learn why and how, it's a no brainer. pretty cool actually!

why wait?
beef cans pretty well, too.
I made a big batch of stew and canned it a few weeks ago, to take for lunch at work.
just pop open a pint jar and microwave, home cooked lunch .
I plan on getting my technique down before next season. Take for instance, my stew.
not bad, but needs tweaking.
I saw a website that had a lot of recipes I want to try,and tips on how to do it better, some I have already saw the need for,
like the stew, she prepares the ingredients separately, then places an equal amount in each jar, something I wish I had done.
Ill put the link up here when I can later today.

Goalie the sausage cans well to. You can mash some up and make gravy to put over the ones you didn't mash up. Good over homefries, hashbrown, or frenchfries. Canned meat is some of the best eating you will ever get.

Everyone must be at Ryan's and fluffy's eating up the canned venison.

Minus 26 here this morning.
