After all these yrs. I made a mistake! Decapped only, set brass aside for a few days and went back and primed it without resizing. Seated primers , poured in the powder and went to seat bullets; but necks are too big and won't hold bullets. How can I resolve this without full length resizing and popping out the new primers? Involves 30-06, 125 gr. Sierra and H4350ex. About 60 shells. This must be the beginning of CRS.( Can't remember shi-) Ther must be an easier way than removing the epander button, running all brass thru then replacing button and running it thru again. I am all ears. Please. Nick.

I'd dump powder(obviously),lube cases and size less the decapping pin......................

or get a set of Lee Collet dies, and remove the depcapper ... they're not expensive, and they work VERY well, and do not require lube ...

nice thing about the Lee collet die, is that it requires no "setting" of the die like a standard FL die ... meaning, you just unscrew the top, pull the decapping pin out, and put the top back on ... run the shells thru the die, and you're back in business ... Takes me all of abouto 10-15 minutes to run 100 hulls thru the press using the collet die ... it's well worth it ...

Yep, Like BigStick said above pull the decapper pin out of your sizing die and runt the cases through.

I pulled the whole decapping/button assembly out of my Lyman S type bushing dies and left them out.

It takes 'bout 6 seconds to off the decapping pin in a Redding or RCBS sizer.

If it were my brass,I'd run 'em back through the Universal Decapper, then lube and carry on in normal fashion, then incorporate new primers after the sizing operation.

Fresh primers is cheap insurance..............

I didn't mean to imply that the removal of decapping pins from the standard FL dies is a problem ... just that the Lee stuff is cheap and effective, and would be a nice addition, allowing "neck sizing only" w/out the fuss of messing with the dies you normally use when FL sizing ... kinda like having two Lee Auto-Primes so that you can keep one set for large primers, and one set for small ... again, it's easy to change the config, but why do it all the time when it's so cheap and easy to just get another?

I prefer a FL die,set up to move only that brass,I wish to move.

I don't straight neck size anything..................

I tried, really hard, to get my Redding FL die to just size the neck, until the shoulder needed a bump ... but no matter what I did, the body was sized just enough to push the shoulder forward before it contacted the portion of the die where it would bump it back ... so I was in a pickle, where I was basically FL sizing no matter what I did ...

I guess that's what happens when the factory chamber is "that much bigger" than the die ... One a custom tube w/ a SAAMI min spec chamber, I guess things would be different ...

that's why I got a set of the collet dies, and use them until the brass needs FL sizing and/or a shoulder bump, and it's worked out very well for me ...

If I had "one die to do it all", believe me I'd use it ... I don't like to over-complicate things either ...

Bumping the shoulder, every time, isn't a dirty practice to me.

When kissing lands,I could never see the difference on paper with a straight NS die or a FL die,so I drive FL's set up to chamber geometry.

I don't even know if I have any NS dies left......................

Heck, Primers are only about $1.,50/100 For that amount, pop them with a complete resize and case lube. Just remember to wear safety glasses when de priming.

Hey, you stick one case in the dies because of some lube probelemand you will spend more in money and time than the 100 primers

Thanks everyone. Just returned from basement reloading bench. After messing around with removing pin from forster/bonanza 06 full length die(had to use vise grips). I had mixed results that I was not satisfied with. Also tried to do the same with old set of herters 06 dies. I guess I have decided to follow the advice of several posters and knock out the new primers and resize the body/neck at the same time. I really appreciate the response from all who posted. Thanks. It is nice to know there are friends out there. Nick
