I'm wondering what you use to retain or at least limit the distance and dispersion of the brass fired in your AR? I like to collect and reload my brass, but I find myself spending quite a bit of time searching for it after I'm done firing a string. Of course, hitting the concrete and then rolling sends them in random directions, so I never know where they might end up. I also want to avoid hitting the shooter on the next bench over with hot brass. I saw where Brownells sells a deflector that seems to mount on the Picatinny rail and it says it deflects and drops the brass right next to you. That doesn't sound bad, but was just wondering what you guys use.

I have a piece of Velcro stuck to the deflector on my .308. It keeps it from getting dented and it doesn't fly too far. When I'm shooting next to someone, I usually set a gun case or piece of cardboard next to me to keep my brass off other people.

Those deflectors work great if you're not running an optic.

Stay away from the mesh bag catchers. They melt and stick to the brass.

I run the Wook Company Gen 2 brass catcher from Brownells

cost 4x more than the $10 Caldwell but it 10X better

Trim the ejector spring back a coil or so.

Put the velcro or silicone layer about 1/8 or 3/16 thick on the deflector. Both help. The ejector we use are tuned to put the brass about 2 oclock only a few feet away. And with something on the deflector, you don't dent the case necks.

I haven't shot my Ar very much but I just put a small tarp on the ground where it wants to go, with a few hills and valleys so they don't roll. miles
