I am currently building a 6.5x47Laupa. RL-17, Varget, 4350, and 4895 seem popular. I have a 5# keg of 17...hope it works. I am planning to shoot the 130 AB.

Lack of powder options local when mine arrives I'm hoping my 10lb supply of big game will do the trick.

H4350 always works in the Lapua. Viht N540 will get you the best performance but not always the most accurate.

I have only tried three powders in mine

Varget
H4350
RL17

Varget gives me the best accuracy

Rel 17 is one of the most temp.sensitive powders I've ever been around.

For the 123gn type bullets, 30.3 to 30.8gn of Varget will deliver exceptional accuracy through the 6.5 Lapua.

The 140s work better with slower powders like H4350.

You are correct, it should read 38.3 to 38.8gn. I'm working up loads for my new 6mm BR and got it very wrong.

My Model 70 likes 38.5gn under a 123 Scenar, but the heavy Rem 700 prefers 38.7gn. The Ruger No.1 likes 38.3gn. A friend runs his Sako 579 on 39gn with the 123gn AMAX, but IMHO this load is too hot.

Good catch Al, thought the same thing. Best to catch typos on loads smile

Adam, was that your short custom 6.5x47 No. 1 Ruger posted somewhere awhile back? Nifty rifle.

I am about to get started running a 47, wondered about IMR 4064, have Varget and H4350 also. Know 4064 is close to Varget. Running 123, 130, and 140-142.

Anyone run Wolf primers?

I shoot 139 Scenars and 140 Hybrids over Varget in my pair of 6.5x47's. It doesn't set the world on fire regarding speed (2700-2750) but is well behaved.

Just countless chrony readings in various conditions to back it up. I have many hunting buddies that shoot RE-17 in Utah where there is a huge temp swing. No issues.

And, the newer bottles state right on the label "Consistent maximum velocity in extreme weather conditions"

http://www.alliantpowder.com/products/powder/reloder17.aspx

Take it or leave it, no matter to me. But I've seen enough evidence first hand to support this statement. I will be doing personal test in various conditions this year. I will report those numbers back.
