Bought a Tikka Superlite from SH about a month ago in 270 win. Took everybody's advice and put a Leupy 3.5-10 CDs in some talley lows and slapped a Limbsaver on it. Nosler Accubonds went consistently into an inch. Winchester Supreme ballistic tips went consistently into 3/4 with a .69 being the best. After reading a few posts on here, I shoved some blue box Feds in the 'oil plastic mag box. First group went just under 3/4. So, I shot another really concentrating on my form, which is a must with these lightweight rigs. Group 2 went just over a half inch. Happy! Want to stretch her legs a little and see if it will group them at 300, but we just got 14" snow here in the mid-Atlantic so I'll have to wait for better weather.

I got the tikka bug so bad, I went last nite and bought another superlite in 223 to have myself a little walking varminter. I picked up some cheap fiocchi 69gr smk bullets to break it in with. But, I'm gonna send in a Leupy for a CDs knob first before I mount it up. Can't wait to shoot it though! Will report when I get some rounds thru it.

I agree with most, they ain't the prettiest girl at the bar. But, it's sure hard to argue with the results. Bolts are smooth as glass. Turned my triggers all the way down and they break pretty cleanly. I have to admit I was somewhat skeptical at some of the posts I read about guys selling off their Remmy's. But, i started buying in when I saw guys with 4,5 and 6 of them in the safe? I'm definitely a bang for buck guy...and the tikka definitely fits that bill. Looked at the sako finnlight and forbes guns too. But, I basically got 2 for the price of one with those. I have no doubt the quality of those guns exceed the tikka in most regards. I still may own a 20b one day, but will wait to see if there are any kinks in the early production. A 4 3/4lb tree stand rig sounds very appealing. But, for now, I think a Tikka or two will make good boom sticks.

Speaking of selling off Remmy's, I just put one up today...a 700 SS synthetic in 7 mag. Check it out. I will also be putting up a 700 vssf in 22-250 in the next day or two...it wears a 6.5-20 Leupy and shoots tiny groups with factory ammo.

Thanks to all the Tikka nuts out there that talked me into buying not 1 but 2 new Tikka's! Critters beware!

I can't believe Beretta doesn't import more models. I know they don't NEED the money, but they got to be missing out on money to be made IMO,

I know when I slap my climbing stand on my back this fall, and I'm carrying a backpack in one hand and a Tikka in the other hand, I will appreciate the light weight even more.

if they would have had the Superlite in 243 or 7-08, I probably would have got one or the other on a coin toss. But, neither SH nor Cabelas import those calibers. And, I didn't want to go with the regular T3 which is 8oz heavier.

A 260 would be awesome, especially since they don't import the 6.5x55 in stainless anymore.

Indeed, a 260 would make great whitetail medicine where I hunt. I haven't shot one, but I'm surprised that round has not gained more rapid popularity with the short action crowd.

Haha, Slim, glad to know I'm not alone. I only purchased one rifle so far, but I love it.

If I started shopping for another rifle, I wouldn't know where else to turn, other then spending a lot more money!

I have 5 Tikka's in various configurations. A T3 Hunter in 223 with a 1-8" twist, a 260 with the same twist. A 595 White Tail Hunter in 22-250 and two T3 Synthetics that I have had re-barreled to 257 Roberts and 204 Ruger. All left handed, by the way.
Didn't mean to hijack the thread but wanted to support the tikka fans out there who own multiples...

Thanks OSU, what kind of pills does that 8 twist 223 like? That's same twist this new superlite has. I bought some cheapo fiocchi 69gr smk to try in it once I get it all set up. I have read 60 gr vmax are outstanding as well. Heck, the way the blue box Feds shot in the 270, I might give those a try. Process of elimination I guess.

Those Tikka's are pretty hard to beat and are very addictive, I started out with a 243, just to try one out and really was impressed so then picked up a SuperLite 300 off here, then the journey for a 204 started and in the process picked up a stainless 223 that I thought I would re-barrel and before I even had it here I had a New in Box stainless lite 204 headed to me! I'm actually sitting here looking at selling a few guns off to buy another and free up some fun money but haven't thought too hard on it yet!!!

Thats a good rig. Accurate enough to handle any hunting shot and affordable enough you wont loose any sleep if you get into any rough weather. I have had a few Sako 75's and every one was a good shooter.

Exactly...and I hunt rain or shine! And if I miss a big buck (which I have done on a couple occasions) I want to know it was my fault and not my equipment. Confidence in your equipment gives every hunter/shooter just a little edge. I think the Tikka is here to stay...for a little while anyway.

I have a nice but very heavy Savage Predator 223 predator rifle. Its a great shooter but heavy. I am looking very seriously at setting up a Tikka SS Lite in 223 for a run and gun predator rifle.

If it doesn't shoot the 69 grain SMK's well, there's something wrong with it. I have some 70 grain TSX bullets but haven't loaded them yet so I don't know what it'll do with them but that's about as heavy as I'll want to get with a 223 Rem. Above that and I'll go to a 243/6mm Rem.

Don't think you can actually find any 'official' info.

IIRC, I've seen them in .223, .22-250, .270 Win, 7mm RM, .308, .30-06, .300 Win, and .300 WSM.

To give a rough baseline my .308 SL was exactly 5.8 lbs with rings.

The magnums have a 24" barrel compared to the 22 1/2" (roughly) of the standards.

Thanks OSU, I'm confident I will find something this thing will like...can't wait to sling some lead...or copper!

Shag, I think Cabelas shows the Superlite on their website but Sportsmans Warehouse doesn't. Don't quote me, but I think the caliber choices are 223, 22-250, 270, 270wsm?, 30-06, 308, 7 mm mag and 300 win mag. I really wanted a 7-08 or a 243, but not available in the 5lb 12oz Superlite. So, I got the 270 instead. It shoots great so far in my limited amount of rounds down range, takes advantage of the long action and is ballistically superior to the other two. The first one prompted me to get a 223 two days ago...haven't fired yet.

First URL is the primary Tikka website in Finland. Good for finding out which models are cataloged/made in Finland.
http://www.tikka.fi/

Second URL is the Beretta website showing models they import for U.S. market. I do not have a specific citation. However, I "think" there may be more models floating in the U.S. than what is shown on the current Beretta website.

AS I mentioned in a different thread, I would really like to see a LH SS Fluted Tikka in the U.S. in a metric chambering.

Cabelas has T3 Superlites in a nice selection of chambers. I waited in line on Black Friday to buy a 270 with my points as they had them $150 off regular. Put a Leupold 3-9x40 and went hunting. Getting 1/2 groups with Hornady 130's and 59 gr of H4831.

Beware of thieves, scammers and dishonest members on the "Fire" classifieds. Ya there is a thief here too. Whatever!!

They're all around the CampFire and everywhere.
