Does anyone have a good patent for holding the boot, or shield, on the augers?

Mine is now put up for the year, but visualize this: a plastic coffee can and two short bungees. Drill two holes at the edges of the auger for the bungee hooks (and shorten one bungee to compensate for the auger twist.)
Any small plastic bucket would work as well. Remove the bail and replace with the short bungees.

Thanks, I'm thinking of welding chain links on the auger tube. The pail idea sounds good.
