So, Tikka makes a 1-8 .223 twist bolt. Who else does? Any leads appreciated.

Tikka DID make a 1-8" twist, they are now 1-10" twist.
Ruger American is a 1-8" twist, that is the only one I am aware of.

Depends on how long it is.
My 1-9's have shot 65 gr. GK's and 70 VLDs very well.
Never tried barnes, though.
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

Never tried barnes, though. I have experience with one 9 twist 223, a savage. It shoots the barnes 62 TTSXs very well.

Ruger American is a 1-8" twist, that is the only one I am aware of. Just went on their website, it says the T3 Lite Stainless still comes in an 8-twist: http://www.tikka.fi/pdf/specs/LiteStainless.pdf

Somebody was saying the Tikka T3 Superlite also came with a 1 in 8 but I haven't confirmed that.

T3 Super-Lite .223 (fluted barrel) is still 1:8. Regular T3 Lite is now 1:10. My Super-Lite:

I think the Tikka Superlite from Sportsmans Warehouse comes in 8 twist. The rest have switched over to 10.

At 6 LBS the Ruger American Compact with 8 twist and a "googled info" mag length of 2.750 looks interesting for a rifle under $400 street. There is also a stainless version coming out.
Am I correct that the COL of the 223 with 75 Amax is 2.390?
Edit Another report has the mag blocked at 2.292. Why are manufacturers so stupid as to twist a barrel to shoot heavies and restrict the mag so it can only be single loaded?
