You folks gave me some invaluable tips and leads last year when I was in the Florida Keys. Well, I need advice again. I will be in the Englewood-Venice area until the end of March. looking for a charter for several days that won't break the bank. Inshore snook, redfish, and trout or offshore grouper and cobia. I found a party boat, but don't know the drill. Inshore, a small boat would work as there is just me and my wife. I brought waders and tackle and would also like to do some wading/casting. Don't know where to go and really don't care for piers. Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Good luck! Placida and the Stump Pass area is where we did all our snook fishing.

I was down in Punta Gorda, in January. Fishing was pretty good. We were catching Reds and trout. Fishing Alligator Creek, Peace River, and the lower Myakka. I've included a link http://myakkariverfishing.com/

Check out the Venice fishing pier. According to their website it is free, and you don't even need a fishing license to fish from the pier itself. Hard to say what you might catch, though. Snook are mostly in the backcountry now, so you might not find them stacked up in the passes and off the beaches like you will when it warms up a bit more. Florida Sportsman would be a good resource. Greg Penix and Frank Bachnik are two guides that work in that general area, maybe a little south. I don't think either are what most would call inexpensive. They stay pretty booked up though.
