I've never really had the urge to own an AR but my brother in law bought one last week and we shot it this weekend and now I've got the itch.
Kind of narrowed it down to the Rock River Arms Varmint or the Stag Model 6 Varmint. Stag is cheaper but the RRA seems to be a little higher quality. Use will mostly be punching paper and steel at 300 yards and closer.
Any suggestions from you AR gurus?

That's one thing that turns me off on the Stag. It only comes in a 24" version. I won't be carrying it around much though.

Look at the 3 gun version. It offers a Wilde chamber, 1:8 and a fluted 18" barrel. Whats not to like.

Both rifle will make you happy , but in my opinion the RR will have the better factory trigger. Me personally i own 99% Stags because of being LH , but i just buy the LH Stripped Upper Stag Receivers and build or assemble myself , depending on how you want to state it.
A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

Just recently bought a Stag A-6. Shoots outstanding with 55 grain VMAX. I love the gun however , I personally wouldn't want to carry it all day. I own RRA's and STAG's. All are very accurate and perform well. For strictly varmint hunting I'd go with the RRA only because it's more ergonomic for carrying all day.
