I,m interested in trying a set of the bog pod tripod with the pistol grip head on a spotting scope. Has anyone here used this set up? If so how did it work? Pros and cons?

bulldog,, When I'm in a glassing situation that requires not much backpacking the Bog with a spotting scope on top has no peers. I also rest my bino's on top for comfortable glassing too. I've not yet used mine as a shooting rest! Jim
I tend to use more than enough gun

Thanx for the replies. Sorry so late getting back to you. Im a big game guide in Western Wyoming , mostly horse back and some hiking. I thought that they would work good for both spotting & shooting rest.I was trying to figure out how steady they were with spotting scope on them . I guess I will try them out this spring bear hunting in MT.

granted i only used the setup of Pats at the 'fire get together down in New Mexico like i said and we were only shooting out to about 120 that day and couldnt see any farther cause of the terrain but we were watching paper and telling people where they were hitting with 22's and 17's so it was steady and handy enough i was using Pats scope instead of my own when given the chance cause it was so much faster to move between targets

Have used the Bog for both a shooting rest and a scope stand in the field. Excellent, stable rifle rest. The pistol grip scope head locks up tight to my Zeiss but is a little wobbly where it inserts into the tripod. Not a deal breaker for me but this set up is not as rock solid as a dedicated scope tripod.
