It seems we have a state legislature that believes they are too special to go through the permit process that everyone else does. And this, after one lawmaker had his license revoked for failing to report a past guilty plea for assault with intent to commit rape. Some legislators have stated that they deserve the right to protect themselves without question. Imagine that! I personally think we deserve to be protected from legislators with violent (and elitist) tendencies.

Here's an Idaho Statesman opinion piece on the Idaho senate affairs committee's shameful act. Funny....I remember when the Statesman was against legalized concealed-carry for citizens.....

Any more questions as to whether both parties are actually one big .gov party and in it only for themselves at the expense of the subjects er "citizens"?

This reminds me of the aldermen in Chicago. They have always been allowed to carry concealed even when residnets were banned from even owning a handgun.

No body of elected officials has had more of its members sent to prison than Chicago's city council yet an old state law recognizes these degenerates as peace officers.

It's not a privilege to carry. It's a right.

This has griped me every since I heard that they've given themselves a special privilege like that. A permit isn't that big of a deal in Idaho. It's a shall issue state and almost any form of gun training is acceptable. I got mine with my military discharge. Hunter safety is also acceptable. But these guys are 'special' in their own eyes.
Part of the problem is that the Idaho legislature is mostly Republican, so much so that the Dems have almost no voice. There's nothing to balance them. While I'm generally opposed to everything the Dems do, they do lend some restaint to government on stuff like this.

I wish people would become outraged we need any form of training or permit at all.

It has not been many years since the law was repealed in Arkansas, that made it illegal to arrest or stop for inquiry, a member of the State House or Senate for any reason, while they were in session. That included murder. They could be arrested, but after the session was over. miles

I think that's the law in a lot of places. When there was an important vote, the opposition had a habit of getting a lawmaker 'arrested' so he couldn't vote. Obviously, the law was often abused.

More truth!
People get all goose bumpy about ccw as though they are exercising their "rights" when all they did was get permission from the ministry of witchcraft for something we already have a right to do.

Funny you never heard from the do-not-comply brigade when the states started giving us the "privilege" to bear arms.

I didn't intend another thread about permits vs "constitutional carry". The point of this is that Fulcher apparently believes legislators and other elected officials deserve more "privileges" than others. Fulcher is running for governor. Last night's news has him back-stepping from this statement, and claiming that he believes no one should need a permit. While I'll go along with that, I'm having a hard time believing the idea came from his own principles. It's sounding a lot like he figured out fast that he stepped in manure and can't rid himself of the smell fast enough.
